Looking for a ladder? Here’s some info to help you find the right one. The rigid ladder is usually the ladder type used for most tasks. Rigid ladders are available in many varieties, from the fixed to the roof ladders. The most basic of ladder types is the fixed ladder; it has no moving parts. Extension ladders are composed of two ladders where one nests in the other for easy storage. Joined by a hinge at the top, and often forming an inverted V, are step ladders. If you need space to place things like paint cans, you might need a platform ladder, which has a platform at the top. If you need to climb up the roof or do some outdoor house painting, you need a roof ladder, which has a hook at the top, for easy latching on the roof. The preferred material for most ladders, except those used in electrical work is aluminium.
